Low testosterone levels and lack of focus and concentration

It’s a scenario that will be familiar to a lot of men. They suddenly find themselves unable to focus and it’s a real struggle to concentrate at work.  It feels as though they’ve gone from being the sharpest knife in the drawer to the bluntest.  Maybe you find yourself staring at your bank statements unable to focus on what calculations you’re trying to make? Perhaps it’s the fact that you attended a meeting at work and now can’t remember anything of what happened there.  It feels as though you are losing control of your thought processes. It can be an extremely worrying and fearful time, but quite often, experiencing this type of lack of focus and concentration is the result of low testosterone levels.

Our brains rely on our testosterone levels being optimum for our grey matter to function.  Of course certain abilities, both cognitive and in our memory ability will decline naturally with age, but there is a definite connection between having low testosterone levels and suffering from brain fog, lack of focus and poor concentration.

When testosterone levels are normal it is well documented that they support our learning and memory abilities.  For those who are suffering from low testosterone levels a course of as little as six weeks using a testosterone supplement can produce an improved verbal, memory and spatial ability in men suffering from a decrease in testosterone.

There are, of course, other reasons why a man maybe suffering from a lack of focus or an inability to concentrate on tasks and it’s always a good idea to check with your doctor that your problems do not stem from low thyroid function, for example, which has similar symptoms.  in conjunction with other evidence of low testosterone levels, men who are suffering from these types of brain fog issues can be confidently categorised as having the symptoms of reduced testosterone levels.  As with most things, starting off with a visit to the doctor is the best idea so that you know what you’re dealing with and can take any advice on underlying conditions or lifestyle that the doctor may have for you. If you have any allergies you should see what treatment you can be prescribed for that.

The solution is to replenish the testosterone hormones that are missing. Testosterone supplements are a great way of redressing the balance and there are other steps you can take as well to try to help you get back to the quick witted and fast thinking man that you know you really are.

As with most things to do with our health, starting with eating a good healthy diet that is rich in fresh fruit and vegetables and cutting back on simple carbohydrates, can help a lot. So could try to avoid gluten and cutting back on sugar consumption will certainly help.

We are told that most people don’t drink enough water, so if you think you might be guilty of this make sure that you drink enough to ensure that you are always well hydrated.

As we always say there is no substitute for a good night’s sleep and those testosterone producing hours that we miss out on if we have disturbed or insufficient sleep.  If you lead a particularly stressful or hectic life it might be worth trying things like yoga or meditation to relax and de-stress you.

The diagnosis of low testosterone need not fill you with horror, read all the chapters in this book to see what steps you can take to help you improve your condition and start to feel like yourself again.
