A Complete View of Your Hormone Health

These 4 biomarkers provide the most important insight for specialists when measuring testosterone levels and the hormone is utilised by the body.

Total testosterone

Testosterone can either be bound to carrier proteins or free-floating within the bloodstream. Total testosterone levels are the sum of both types.

Free testosterone

This is the concentration of testosterone which isn’t attached to proteins in the blood. Typically, only around 2-5% of testosterone in the body is free testosterone.

SHBG

Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) is a protein designed to transport testosterone and other sex hormones through the bloodstream. Higher levels of SHBG typically mean lower levels of free testosterone.

Albumin

Another protein produced by the liver, Albumin can largely be found in blood plasma and allows testosterone to bind to it.

ITEM:

Our Advanced Hormone Screen is the principal TRT blood test required before your treatment can begin. This includes a phlebotomy, which can be carried out in the comfort of your home, place of work, or one of our nearby partner clinics. The nurse will have all the equipment needed to take your sample. Your detailed results should be returned in 3 working days, and are followed up by a doctor’s consultation (included in price).

Testosterone levels decline naturally in men over the age of 30, increasing the risk of deficiency. Lower than normal levels of testosterone can cause erectile dysfunction, lack of energy, low libido, loss of concentration, and difficulty in gaining and maintaining muscle mass.
